Q Sound & Eliza
After a long and fruitful seven year career with the Malaysia Philharmonic Orchestra, former Principal Trombonist Marques “Q Sound” Young is ready to walk a different path and take the music world by storm. With his rich experience in composing and performing music from an eclectic range to classical musical and soul, listeners can and should expect nothing less than raw talent, soul and a continuous evolution from Q Sound.
Having shared the stage with jazz greats like Benny Golson, Paquinto D’Rivera and Wynton Marsalis, Q Sound is also backed by an impressive list of past performances, namely for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as well as opening for Jose James, BabyFace and Hiatus Koyote with the band Bassment Syndicate.
Spring of 2016, Q Sound released his solo debut in the form of a visual EP. Titled “Duel Citizenship”, his EP is accompanied by a series of short films. The final instalment “Broken Glass” was released on the same day as his official EP launch, making it a double celebration. Inspired by personal experiences and with the help of emerging filmmaker Al Ibrahim, the short films are a visual diary that brings to life the conflicts and struggles chronicled in Q Sound’s EP. The Duel Citizenship EP would later go on to be nominated for two Anugerah Industri Muzik awards (AIM).
Eliza Thomas has been singing for as long as she’s been able to speak and is now working towards being the artist she was always meant to be. Having established her potent template of sultry soul and ravening R&B, she draws inspiration from artists ranging from Etta James to Etta Bond. Along with her single, Second Nature released back in 2011, Thomas has performed at Sunburst 2008 and various other music festivals in KL before taking a hiatus. Back now and better than ever, she is ready to get back in the groove.
